"Enjoyed all of the hikes"
Last year I visited Asturias, a beautiful region in the northwest of Spain, and I had a very good time there. The region is pretty different from the rest of Spain: it still has its authentic culture and a lot of delicious local food and drinks. The climate is pretty mild and the region is not yet discovered by most tourists, which makes it the perfect area for hiking. Both the seaside with its amazing white cliffs and the inland with its impressive green mountains are part of the beautiful nature you will find here. During my trip I did several hikes and although they were all completely different I enjoyed all of them. One of the hikes I liked most was a tour that was organised by Debora. She took me together with three other tourists to the historic city of Oviedo, from which we started hiking the first part of the Camino de Santiago. It was an amazing experience to walk on these very special paths and roads, feeling the deeper meaning and at the same time discovering the beautiful landscape and wildlife. The additional guidance and information from Debora made the tour even more special. And although I don’t think I will complete the full Camino, I am absolutely sure that I will come back to Asturias as soon as possible!
"Relaxing Day Out"
We went to the Aquaxana in Las Caldas. We arrived in this small and idyllic village and first went for a hike around the village along a small river. In the distance we saw a fairy tale castle surrounded by beautiful trees. After the hike we went back to the village for a lunch. Thereafter Debora took us to the Spa. We could stay inside for two hours and we’ve had more than enough time to see everything in there. When you’re in need of a relaxing day out, then bring a visit to Aquaxana together with Debora!
"Highly recommended!!!"
We strongly recommend this activity for anyone who would like to have not only a feeling, but an actual perception on how the Camino feels like. Debora helps a lot on this by keeping us posted on history and understanding of many situations you will never know if you do it by yourself. Just wonderful, my wife and I really enjoyed it! Highly recommended!!!
"Excellent alternative to the usual ‘dates and places’ walking tour"
An excellent alternative to the usual ‘dates and places’ walking tour. Debora is knowledgeable and interesting. Very fluent in English (she is Dutch). Academic background in ecology and conservation. The focus of this tour on the Camino de Santiago, it’s history, and it’s influences on Oviedo made for an interesting starting point for our exploration of the city.
"Beautiful experience"
Last October I went to Asturias and walked a part of the Camino de Santiago. It was a beautiful experience and thanks to the suggestions I got from Debora it was even better. She also helped me to find a nice rural accommodation for my stay in Asturias.
"Lifelong memory"
Jim and I want to Thank You again for the amazing day in Asturias. You made the experience a lifelong memory for us.
"Very kind and lovely guide"
It was a really nice experience. Nice walk, lovely spa, interesting lunch and a very kind and lovely guide.
"Hike was perfect for us"
Debora was so easy to be with. The hike was through some beautiful areas that we would not have found on our own. We love nature so the hike was perfect for us.
"Nice place to visit with small kids"
We were surprised by the beauty of Asturias, so much to see, do and explore! Debora and Marcos were great guides who know a lot about the region, they gave us many valuable suggestions and interesting facts. Also a nice place to visit with small kids.
"Definitely recommend this tour"
We really enjoyed our taste of the Camino de Santiago! The hike is not too challenging and Debora was a lovely and knowledgeable guide. She provided us with snacks, a pilgrims’ pass and a lot of information about the region of Asturias and the Camino. As Debora has been living in Asturias for a while, she is also able to give good recommendations about what to do and where to eat in the area. We would definitely recommend this tour, if you would like to be a pilgrim for a day and explore Asturias’ beautiful landscape!
"Very trustworthy guides"
They listen to what you are looking for and find or create something to suit. Very trustworthy guides.
"Excellent knowledge of the Camino and the Asturian countryside"
As it happened, I was the only participant on the day which turned out to be a big plus. Debora is a sincere, kind and friendly person with an excellent knowledge of the Camino and the Asturian countryside. She is highly educated and the walk passed most agreeably. At all times she was mindful of how I was coping with it, but she needn’t have worried – it was the most pleasant 4-5 hours I’d spent on my brief stay in northern Spain!
"Perfect way to experience the famous pilgrimage"
This was a perfect way to experience the famous pilgrimage, but on a smaller scale. Something that may get you to take on the complete trail someday. Debora was an expert not only on historical facts, she was an expert on the local wildlife and environment. A must when in Oviedo!”
"Experience was unique and special"
I thoroughly enjoyed my “taste” of the Camino de Santiago. Debora is a warm and friendly person, and she made it feel more like a hike with friends than meeting people for the first time. She was also very encouraging when the trail was a bit difficult for me. The experience was unique and special. If you are interested in the Camino de Santiago but only have a short time in Oviedo, this experience would be perfect for you.
"Fantastic guide"
Debora was a fantastic guide for the El Camino Santiago!! She communicated with us beforehand and kept us up to date. She was very knowledgeable about the Camino and sights along the way. I am 68 and in fair shape. The hike was a challenge, but she was very considerate and encouraging. I finished and it was an amazing experience. Plus, we had a beautiful day. Debora also had a walking stick for me that was a great help!
"Our best event in Spain"
Debora made the Taste of the Camino Santiago our best event in Spain. She met us promptly, went over the agenda and we were on our way. She found something in common or to personally connect upon with each of our group members. This experience commences at the beautiful Cathedral and you pass the metal gold colored scallops while in the city as you progress on the Primitivo section of the trail. Once in the countryside, you pass by the traditional scallop markers and religious chapels. Debora is very enthusiastic, intuitive and paced the group according to its needs and desires. She made sure we had water and she even brought a few surprise treats. At the end of route for the day on the trail, we insisted Debora stay with us for a light refreshment. Totally worth the time to do this trip with Debora.
"Passionate, great steward and very knowledgeable"
Our group had wanted to experience hiking a brief part of the Primitivo section of the El Camino de Santiago. Debora was clear in what to expect, what to bring, and exactly where to meet. There was no confusion in finding her. She was at the agreed upon meeting location early and was prepared to adjust the tour based upon the unique needs of our group (different ages, interests, abilities, physical limitations). Debora immediate connected with our diverse family. At one point or another several members of our group were able to talk to Debora as we progressed along The Way. She was genuinely interested in each of our life stories. She was passionate about the area, a great steward of the environment and very knowledgeable of the unique character of the area. We saw so many things we would have never learned about on our own had we not been with Debora. Her positive attitude and care for us made this excursion a once in a lifetime experience. Great job Debora!
"Gostei da experiência"
Debora é muito simpática, cuidadosa e atenciosa. Foi uma caminhada tranquila, ela me explicou o que lhe perguntei, além de descrever algumas outras paisagens e o que encontramos no caminho. Gostei da experiência e faria outra vez a caminhada com ela.
"Beautiful trip"
Last week I went on a beautiful trip with a couple of friends on the Ruta De Las Foces Del Rio Pendon. Debora came with the idea to visit this region and showed and guided us during this trail. The trail is beautiful, but also a bit exhausting because of elevation on the path. Thank you Debora for this trip!
"Super friendly guide"
Super friendly guide, Debora and Marcos know heaps about beautiful Asturias and are more than happy to share their love for this unique piece of Spain with you!
"Definitely the highlight of our holiday"
We had a great day with Javier and enjoyed the tour immensely. Javier was a charming guide and so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject. The sites that we visited were easily accessible. The planning of our tour went very smoothly and we felt that we were made welcome in our desire to see these beautiful birds. The day was definitely the highlight of our holiday!
"Recommendations were incredible"
Our visit to Asturias was only short, but Debora & Marcos made sure we enjoyed it to the fullest. Their recommendations for lunch/dinner and places to visit (including but not limited to Lagos de Covadonga) were incredible!
"Fantastisch wandelweer"
